Vision of Dry Boards
In Mary Shelley’s famous story, Dr. Frankenstein wished to understand the essence of life and death. He connected body parts together, breathed life into them, and created a new person, recycled and strange one. In this project I tried to do something similar. I collected scraps of wood that had been cruelly sawed into boards, reconnected them and tried to resurrect them, like Dr. Frankenstein, into a different and strange life form. The feeling I tried to infuse into the furniture is of “object-friends” – inanimate objects with an animate presence.
The project was exhibited at the Milan Design Week 2011.

In the work process, I tried to remain focused on the physical and the personal while staying close to the material. More about the process
